Key Points of Regional Inspection of Non Destructive Weld Testing Equipment

Check whether the inspection area meets the requirements:

a) Weld and repair area: weld metal or repair area;

b) The adjacent area within the width of 15 mm around the weld metal or repair area (the width of the adjacent area for the support is 10 mm); usually the external surface of the joint is inspected. When approachable, the inner surface weld metal and its adjacent areas also need to be inspected.

c) Scraping location: the surface of the scraping surface and the adjacent area within 15 mm of its surroundings;

d) Grooves to be welded or surfacing surfaces: all grooves to be welded or surfacing surfaces to be welded.

The key points of regional inspection of non destructive weld testing equipment are as follows:

All tested surfaces should be pre-cleaned to remove any dirt that hinders the normal penetration of penetrants and normal determination of test results. Solvents and detergents can be used for cleaning. After cleaning, the residual solvents and water on the tested surface must be dried, and no contamination should be ensured before the penetrating agent is applied. Dry the surface by using dry cloth that can't have wool or dry, clean absorbent paper.

During the whole penetration time of non destructive weld testing equipment, whether the inspected surface is completely covered by penetrant and kept wet. In addition, it is necessary to check whether the penetration time meets the requirements of the corresponding testing standards. Check whether the imaging time meets the requirements of the corresponding testing standards. Check whether the residual osmotic agent on the tested surface is cleaned up. It is necessary to avoid excessive cleaning, so as not to remove the penetrant from the defect and affect the sensitivity of inspection. At the same time, attention should be paid to prevent the defect display and identification difficulties caused by insufficient cleaning when inspecting non destructive weld testing equipment. Check whether the spraying of imaging agent meets the standard requirements. The imaging agent should be thin and uniformly covered on the whole surface, but it should not be applied repeatedly at the same place. After the inspection, the residual imaging agent is removed and dried with a dry, clean cloth or absorbent paper. Check for liquid penetration. Check whether the welds that do not meet the acceptance criteria have been repaired and re-inspected as required.
